"The A/C in my 2012 Ford Escape hasn't worked since mid last summer. I paid a mechanic $300 last summer just to diagnose it. He told me I needed a $1500 condenser replacement. Not wanting to put that money into it, I was just about to sell it as is at a big loss. I also was told recently during an auto inspection I needed a left front wheel ball joint replaced at a cost of $285.
